Peter Coffin

Peter Coffin is an American artist, who grew up and studied in California and now lives and works in New York City. His art has been exhibited internationally at such venues as PS1 in New York, The Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the Berlin Biennal, and The Horticultural Society of New York.
Peter Coffin brings together, with lightness and subtlety, elemental themes concerned with our perception of reality. His work is informed by and engaged with curiosity and a desire to connect with the things that are greater than us, or perhaps, just barely in reach. He has produced simple works that encourage new frames of reference and perspective: a dance floor for jumping beans, a greenhouse for plants and musical jam sessions, singing trees, and hollow log cosmologies. These works and others bring together unexpected connections between movement, culture, the natural world, and the universe of our thoughts.
